Outlet & Switch Installation

Dead outlets, loose switches, a kitchen counter without enough plugs, or a room that needs smart switches installed — these are some of the most common electrical jobs we handle, and they're jobs worth doing correctly. A dead outlet isn't always a dead outlet — sometimes it's a tripped GFCI elsewhere in the house, sometimes it's a wiring fault, sometimes the device truly needs replacement. Moran Electric diagnoses first, fixes second, so you're not paying for a replacement you didn't need.

So How Does This Work?

FAQ

Why is my outlet not working?

The most common reason is a tripped GFCI outlet elsewhere on the same circuit — check bathrooms, kitchen, and garage for a GFCI with a tripped "test/reset" button. If that's not it, the outlet may have failed, the wiring may have come loose, or a breaker may have tripped. We'll find it quickly.

Do I need GFCI outlets in my kitchen and bathrooms?

Yes — GFCI protection is required by code in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoors, and near any water source. If your home was built before the 1990s and hasn't been updated, there's a good chance these aren't up to code. We can upgrade them in a single visit.

Can you install smart switches if I don't have a neutral wire?

Some smart switches require a neutral wire; others (like certain Lutron Caséta models) do not. We'll assess your wiring and recommend compatible smart switches that work with your existing setup.
