Circuit Breaker Replacement
A circuit breaker that trips once is doing its job. A breaker that keeps tripping, won't reset, feels warm to the touch, or smells like burning is telling you something is wrong — and ignoring it is a fire risk. Moran Electric diagnoses and replaces circuit breakers for homeowners and businesses throughout McKinney and Collin County, with same-day service available in most cases.
Not every tripping breaker means a bad breaker. Sometimes the circuit is overloaded and needs to be split. Sometimes the wiring has a fault. We diagnose the actual cause before we recommend a fix, so you're not paying for a new breaker when the real issue is somewhere else.

So How Does This Work?
FAQ
Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?
The three most common causes are: (1) the circuit is overloaded — too many devices drawing power at once, (2) there's a short circuit in the wiring or a device, or (3) the breaker itself is worn out and tripping at lower loads than it should. We'll find the real cause before recommending any fix.
I have a Federal Pacific breaker panel — is that dangerous?
Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels have a well-documented history of breakers that fail to trip during overloads, which is a fire hazard. If you have a Federal Pacific panel, we strongly recommend an evaluation and likely a full panel replacement
Can I replace a circuit breaker myself?
Legally, homeowners in Texas can do their own electrical work in their primary residence, but working inside a panel exposes you to live conductors. This is one of those jobs that is genuinely safer to leave to a licensed electrician.
What is a GFCI or AFCI breaker and do I need one?
GFCI breakers protect against shock (required in wet areas). AFCI breakers protect against arc faults that can cause fires (required in bedrooms and living areas in newer homes). If your home was built before these were required, upgrading to AFCI/GFCI breakers is a meaningful safety improvement.
